As you all probably know, I don’t like spending a lot of money. Mainly because Ii don’t have a lot of money…. So I’m always testing out cheaper products and comparing it to higher end products. Here’s a list of my ride or die drugstore products that will save you a lot of moolah!
1. Sinful Colors Nail Polish
I don’t have the time or money to get my nails done every other week. So most of the time I do them myself and most of the time I am using a nail polish by Sinful colors! For $1.99, you can’t go wrong with these guys. They are long wearing, apply beautifully, and the color selection is to die for! They also go some cool collabs with people like Kylie Jenner and Kandi Johnson. If you haven’t already, you can check them out at your local Walgreens.
2. Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover
I used to be in love with the Philosophy Purity Face Wash. But I didn’t like spending $23 every time I ran out. So I found this cheaper, gentler alternative for around $6. It gets rid of all of my makeup and it’s very gentle it won’t clog your pores. Win!
3. Airspun Translucent Powder
My new obsession!! This is the best for baking under the eyes. The coverage is amazing and it seriously stays on ALL DAY. If you are basically a drag queen like me, you must must must try this! And for about $8 at Walgreens, you just can not beat that price.
4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
This is the best under eye concealer I have EVER used! Yes, that includes, high end cosmetics. I have been using this for 2 years straight now. I tried other products in between, ones that were even triple the price of this guy, and non compared. For around $7, that is truly a steal!
5. Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad
Another great Maybelline product, these eyeshadows are great for beginners or if you have a specific look you want to go for but don’t want to spend too much money on a new eyeshadow palette. When I got my headshots done, I knew I needed to do a natural smokey eye. If you know me, you know I don’t own anything natural related. So I ran into Target and picked up one of the natural brown quads. It blends amazingly and lasted all day. And if you are new to makeup, this is a great eyeshadow quad to really get the hang of the smokey eye look. On top of all that, it’s only $4.99!
Let me know in the comments if any of you guys try or have tried these products! I love them and I hope you do too!
Today I experienced something I thought I would share with everyone because it is not something I have seen anyone talk about. So, story time!
I was sitting outside a pizza place, eating a pizza as usual. A woman sits next to me, clearly on her lunch break, and she is on the phone telling someone that she has to miss her hair appointment again because no one can pick up her kids. She’s all frazzled and drops her bag. I lean in to help pick up her bag but she beats me to it. She apologizes a million times to who I’m assuming is her hairdresser and hangs up. She then takes her slice of pizza and is clearly in a time crunch to eat (based on the fact that she basically wasn’t chewing her food). As usual, a bunch of random men decide to tell me how beautiful I am. Sometimes I say thank you. Sometimes I ignore them based on how pervy they act. After the 5th guy decides to tell me I’m beautiful I think to my maybe vain self, “Do these guys think I’m blind? Do I really need to know right now that I’m beautiful? The woman who needs these compliments more is probably the woman sitting right next to me.” At this point the woman has devoured the whole pizza and is now wiping the crumbs off her black skirt. I look at her and say “I noticed you have really white teeth, your smile can seriously light up the room! Girl, who’s your dentist?” She laughs and tells me she has OCD when it comes to her teeth and I tell her, “Well it’s been paying off. If I had your teeth I would smile 24/7!” She thanks me and then goes “You know what, I know it seems like a small gesture but I haven’t even had time to wash my hair in 4 days let alone put on some makeup and look presentable for once. Between the new business and my kids I haven’t had time for myself. The business is booming but it has taken over my life. And for those few seconds you made me smile and I really appreciate that. Thank you so much and I hope you have a good holiday.”
I wanted to share this encounter with you all because I think it’s something to think about the next time you’re out and about. Because trust me, I don’t need to know that I’m pretty. But you know what people never compliment me on? The fact that I have a brain. I would like people to stop assuming I’m some bimbo and realize that outside of my bubbly personality, I’m actually an educated woman. And you know what? There’s a lot of women like the one I’ve encountered who probably don’t need to hear about her business for the millionth time and actually WANT to be called beautiful.
I’m fully aware that the world isn’t so simple and if you want to keep complimenting pretty girls, go for it. That’s not a bad thing.
Honestly, I think I’m writing this because I’m really freaking annoyed that I can’t eat my pizza in that nice sunny spot in peace and yet there was a woman next to me who clearly needed a compliment but wasn’t getting any. And then you guys wonder why some women feel the need to get plastic surgery, to contour, to get their lips filled, to have fake this, fake that. Well then stop complimenting all the big chested instagram girls and and start complimenting all the naturally beautiful women on this planet.
Hey guys, I’m sure you’ll all love my newest makeup tutorial. Did I mention it was written by a computer!? Enjoy!
Hey ya’ll! As a lot of you know, I have dealt with acne for a very long time. I thought that the more oily my skin was, the more I was going to break out. So I did everything I can to strip off all the oil on my face. A trip to the humid Philippines proved me wrong. The humidity in the Philippines caused my face to be FLAWLESS! Which made me realize i needed a lot more moisture in my face. I’ve completely changed up my night time skin care routine and I am currently writing this with only ONE pimple on my face, which says a lot for someone like me!
*WARNING: THIS IS NOT AN ORIGINS AD. IT JUST SEEMS LIKE ONE BECAUSE I AM IN LOVE WITH THEIR PRODUCTS AND THEY WORK FOR ME*
After removing my makeup with my Makeup Eraser, I use the Origins A Perfect World cleanser. If you have dry or acne prone skin, this is a great gentle cleanser. I have combination skin and in the summer I get extra oily. During that time I will use Origins Checks and Balances instead- that one is perfect for combination skin!
I like to use toners that are alcohol free because my skin is sensitive. This is a really good, affordable toner if you have sensitive skin.
3. Face Oil
The next thing that I do is apply an oil all over my face. This has made my foundations apply a lot more smoothly and less cakey. The skin around my mouth is very dry and my foundation tends to cling in that area. I apply extra product in that area to make sure it is moisturized properly. It had also lessened my breakouts by A LOT- I MEAN IT. The one that I’m currently using is Josie Maran 100% Pure Argon Oil Light. I use about 5 drops.
4. Night Cream
This is the best night cream I have used so far! It is the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins renewal cream. It is $43 but for a good quality night cream, that is not bad at all. Most night creams that actually work cost anywhere from $65-$200. So this is a steal people! I wake up with skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom 🙂
5. Eye Cream
Oops, another Origins product! But yes, I use Origins under my eyes too. I am currently using the GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. I love how much more awake I look in the morning and the dark circles under my eyes and basically non existent right now. Gotta love a product that actually does what it’s supposed to!
6. Spot Treatment
Last but not least, I use the Kate Somerville Eradikate Acne Treatment wherever I have a break out. This is amazing if you have sensitive skin! It hasn’t bothered m skin so far. Also if you are tired of acne treatments drying out your skin, this is a great alternative. The one downside is you do have to go to sleep with pink dots on your face, which isn’t the most attractive! But hey, it’s a small price to pay for beautiful skin!
For my lips, I’m currently using good old fashioned Carmex. I prefer the click stick because it’s less messy to me. You can never go wrong with Carmex to help dry, chapped lips!
When the air is really dry, I like to use my Homedics Humidifier. Dry air can cause MAJOR breakouts and dry patches on your skin. A humidifier is a great way to add moisture in your room so you can have great skin all year round.
There you have it! This is what I do almost every night and my skin is 90% better than it was 2 years ago. If you have any questions, let me know!
Starring the love of my life, Evana Peterson.
How many of you were a band geek like me? And how many of you think it was one of the best decisions in your life!? I surely do. Besides learning to play the flute, the biggest thing I received from being in band is discipline. Learning how to be so disciplined at a young age has helped me become the person I am today.
The American Canyon High School band is AMAZING! So I thought I should gift you guys with a little sample of what their band is like 🙂
